Steps to Set up Netgear Extender Using Nighthawk App
Place Your Extender
The first and foremost step of Netgear Nighthawk setup is to select an appropriate location for the extender. The correct placement of your extender helps to enhance its performance. So, let’s have a quick look at the instructions you should follow while placing your extender:
Place your Netgear extender in a central area of your home rather than under a table or inside a cabinet. Make sure that the selected area is properly ventilated. Doing so will prevent the overheating of your extender.
Keep the extender at a distance from the metal objects like metallic doors and aluminum studs as they can create WiFi signal interference.
In addition, place the extender far away from the devices like baby monitors, microwave ovens, refrigerators, Bluetooth speakers, etc. Why? Because they can also create interference in the path of WiFi signals coming from your extender
Above all, keep the extender in the same room in which you have placed the router.
Turn on Your Netgear Extender
Plug the extender into a wall socket and switch on the Power button. Make sure to remember following things while doing so:
The power socket should not be damaged.
Check the status of the power LED on your extender. If it is blinking amber or nothing at all, then plug it into another wall socket. If the LED light turns green, it means that the extender is receiving a fluctuation-free power supply.
Establish a Cable Connection
Now, take an Ethernet cable that came along with the extender and connect its one end to the extender and another one to the router. Make sure that the connection is strong and secure. Ensure that the Ethernet cable used to establish the connection between both devices is not damaged.
